Toronto's Festival of Beer

Amber Beers, Blonde Beers, Dark Beers and Fruity Beers. You name it, they got it. Toronto’s Festival of Beer was a celebration of the age-old drink that everyone knows and loves. Except at this festival, you could find some of the most unique blends that exist around the world. Some of our favourites included Crabbie’s Ginger Beer, Smirnoff ‘s Ice My Beer, Hop City’s 8th Sin Black Lager and Left Field Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale.

Toronto’s Festival of Beer (or TFOB) has been going strong for approximately 20 years now and shows no signs of slowing down. This year, there were over 60 breweries with hundreds of beer samples and nearly 20 food vendors. Apart from all the libations to satisfy your taste buds, there were plenty of games and entertainment. There was truly something for everyone. Feeling competitive? Face your friend in beer pong. Feel like chillin’? Grab a seat in the Corona lounge or on the sun deck. Feel like watching a show? Catch some live music by The Trews, Matthew Good or K-Os on the Bandshell Stage.

When we arrived on Sunday around 2pm, the festival was already in its prime. Patrons were sampling various beers, taking tons of photos, playing hilarious games, grabbing free swag and all around having a good time.  The scene was energetic and fun. So, we decided to join the fun and sample a bunch of brews. Here are the awesome ones we tried:

Estrella Pilsner
Crabbie’s Ginger Beer
Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale
Kensington Brewing Fruit Stand Watermelon Wheat
Old Credit Amber
Left Field Brewery Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale
Hop City’s 8th Sin Black Lager
Hop City’s Barking Squirrel Lager
Smirnoff’s Ice My Beer

If you missed the festival this year, we recommend you attend it next year (and arrive early because the time flies). Also, be sure to check it Beerlicious’ other 2015 events. Visit www.beerlicious.ca or www.beerfestival.ca for more details!
